Veteran Lefty Reliever Tim Byrdak is Begging For a Job on Twitter

Tim Byrdak, a veteran lefty reliever, is still looking for work as Spring Training gets into full swing across diamonds in Arizona and Florida. Although Byrdak is a southpaw and lefty relievers tend to have a longer shelf life than Twinkies, there doesn’t seem to be much demand for a 40-year-old who only threw 4 2/3 innings in 2013 and owns a lifetime 4.35 ERA and 1.50 WHIP.

At least Byrdak has a sense of humor about the situation, posting a desperate, self-deprecating plea on Twitter to all 30 MLB General Managers. The ability to “break a pane of glass with his fastball” line was quality.

If Byrdak doesn’t land a job he might have a future career in television. Face it, we could use more analysts who don’t mind laughing at baseball rather than those who are hung up on enforcing the game’s “unwritten rules” from the broadcast booth.

Despite the note, Byrdak didn’t seem too broken up since he posted this photo of himself sledding later in the day:

Eat your heart out Jesse Orosco.
