Steve Elkington Tried to Explain His Michael Sam Tweet by Referencing "Orientals"

Steve Elkington, step away from the Twitter machine. It’s for the best.
Tuesday afternoon the 51-year-old Australian golfer made a painfully unfunny tweet about Michael Sam and handbags at the NFL Combine. He immediately drew fire for the tweet and deleted it.
A few hours later, Elkington posted this explanation for his original tweet about Sam. He managed to bungle this one, too, with an awkward comparison which contained the term “orientals”:

As always with Twitter, leave the comedy to the professionals and stick to mundane updates of what you ate or drank while stuck waiting in an airport.
