Brendan Leipsic of the Portland Winterhawks broke one of hockey’s written rules in a recent game. Leipsic was given and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when he grabbed the opposing Vancouver Giants’ goalie’s water bottle and took a drink. Leipsic should know that a goaltender’s water bottle is a sacred thing. That’s why it is so cool when a player knocks the bottle off the net with a goal. That’s science. Sports science.
