Major League Baseball’s 2014 season started on March 22nd with two games between the Diamondbacks and Dodgers in Australia, but that was a dumb stunt that no one really cared about. So everyone was understandably excited for Opening Day II: Electric Puigaloo on Sunday night when the Dodgers played the Padres. Then the Day of Baseball really Opens on Monday when most of the teams Yasil Puig doesn’t play for finally get on with the baseballing. Then some other teams have Opening Day on Tuesday. That’s right, Major League Baseball was able to draw Opening Day out over just 11 total days. They’re really going to have to hustle to fit the next 2428 games in that brief 6 month window they left themselves.

No wonder C-Span is so excited. That’s why they put together this amusing little compilation of MLB mentions from various political proceedings by various politicians. For me, the highlight comes towards the end as representatives congratulate Rafael Palmeiro, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds for their various dinger-related accomplishments from the Steroid Era. Man, baseball used to be so fun.
