Congrats to Rockland (Mass.) High junior Cameron Stuart. His Twitter campaign to bring Jenny Dell to his prom resulted in some scrapboook photos, fist-pumping dancing and general revelry instead of a restraining order. Judging by the video and quotes it looks like everybody had a good, if not awkward, time (as can be expected.)

Dell, who is dating Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks and subsequently removed from the team’s NESN broadcasts, is no stranger to receiving all sorts of admiration from Red Sox Nation. Last April, a fan presented her with roses during a game. Here she is telling us what it was about Stuart’s campaign won her over via WCVB:

"“I thought it was fantastic,” Dell said about Cameron’s Twitter invitation. “When you see someone that puts that much time and effort into something, you have to take the time and give him the benefit of the doubt.” While Cameron was not the first person to ask Dell to a prom over social media, his persistence made him the first to win her over. “There’s been people who have tweeted out here or there, ‘Will you come to prom with me?’, ‘Would you be my date to this wedding?’ but nothing like the effort that this man put in right here,” Dell said."

It appears as if the courting began last fall on Twitter. Dell responded to it in November and lo and behold there she was on the big day.

Nice story. The look on Stuart’s face in these pre-prom photos says it all.
