The Tigers Zubaz Swag Broke Their Plane to Cleveland, Apparently

Spirits were high in the Detroit Tigers camp after their first sweep of the Red Sox in Fenway Park since the days of Ty Cobb and Silent Sam Crawford 1983. After winning their sixth-straight game and improving to an MLB-best 27-12, the club decided to travel from the ballpark to Logan Airport in full Zubaz regalia ahead of a late-night flight to Cleveland.

Fun flight, right? Wrong.

The plane apparently had some sort of issue on the tarmac, so the team had to go back to the hotel, leading to these much less fun-looking social media updates.

Hey, maybe Zubuz gear is the reason Brian Bosworth’s NFL career never panned out.

The Tigers play in Cleveland tonight and if you’re one of the 15 people left under the age of 65 who still gambles on daily baseball games, this information might be useful. That said, starting pitcher Drew Smyly flew out ahead of the team and arrived in Cleveland on time. No word on whether or not he flew wearing Zubaz gear. It looks like as of Monday afternoon they’re still in Boston, too.

Also, let this serve as a reminder the baseball gods will only allow a certain amount of (unwritten) fun and frivolity at any given time.
