Don Zimmer Passed Away At Age 83

Beloved baseball figure Don Zimmer has passed away at 83. He had had heart surgery in April.

Zimmer played 12 years with the Dodgers, Cubs, Mets, Reds and Senators. He managed for 14 years with the Padres, Red Sox, Rangers and Cubs. He was a bench coach with the Yankees under Joe Torre during their late 1990s run. Zimmer had been serving as a senior baseball advisor for the Tampa Bay Rays since 2004.

He won a total of six World Series, four with the Yankees and two as a player with the Dodgers. 2014 was his 66th season in professional baseball.

Younger fans will remember Zimmer charging Pedro Martinez in the 2003 ALCS, at age 72.
