California Chrome Owner Steve Coburn: "I don't regret a damn thing I said"

California Chrome owner Steve Coburn went on an especially poignant rant after his horse lost to Tonalist, who had not run in the previous two legs of the Triple Crown, at the Belmont Stakes yesterday. Everybody was very quick to paint Coburn as a sore loser who lacked class, and that’s probably true to an extent, but one can also understand why he was so upset.

After he had a chance to sleep on it, Coburn doubled down on his statements on Good Morning America today; it’s actually pretty refreshing in a world where a PR-friendly apology is demanded following all deviation of social grace. Here’s hoping Coburn and his partners find their way back into the Triple Crown picture in future years.
