Joel Embiid will be drafted into the NBA next week at an annual event that was previously used as an excuse for a large group of New Yorkers to boo David Stern on live television. Today it was revealed that Embiid has a stress fracture in his right foot. That stress fracture will require surgery which he is going to have tomorrow. This evening, Embiid posted the above image to Instagram purporting to be his foot, shadow and golf club on a golf course. If you click this link,  you can see a bunch of Instagram commenters losing their collective shit over the guy playing golf and not taking his future seriously blah blah blah.

There are two possibilities and both point to #golfwinsagain:

1. He’s just playin’.

2. A stress fracture is something that you cannot play basketball with, but it is something you can walk and swing a golf club with. You know, get in the cart, have a beer, ride to your ball and take a hack at the ball. I mean, that’s how I do it. Of course, I don’t have a stress fracture in my right foot. That I know of. Maybe I do and it doesn’t hurt that much. Though I am playing basketball tomorrow. So I probably don’t have a stress fracture in my right foot that requires surgery.

I do know that Embiid will not be able to golf tomorrow. Or anytime next week. So if he likes to play golf, today is his last day to golf for a while. I just hope he doesn’t kick the cart after a particularly bad shot. That would not be good for a stress fracture.
