Luis Suarez returned to the Uruguay lineup today vs. England and, what do you know, he scored this wonderful goal late in the first half to put his team ahead 1-0. England’s “defense” left Edinson Cavani with ample time to feather a chip over the top, allowing Suarez to drift away from the “marking” of Phil Jagielka to dink it past Joe Hart.

England’s World Cup is basically over without a result today. The Three Lions will be eliminated with a loss coupled with a Costa Rica win/draw tomorrow vs. Italy. Wayne Rooney twice came close to putting ahead England in the first half.

Meanwhile, Suarez didn’t seem to show any lingering effects from minor knee surgery following the Premier League season which saw him score 31 times for Liverpool.

Why Glen Johnson decided to give Cavani so much room and time to compose his chip is something England fans will likely bemoan for the next four years.
