Diego Godin won the Spanish League for Atletico Madrid with a header on the final day vs. Barcelona. Tuesday the Uruguayan defender rose to the occasion, heading in a corner vs. Italy to eliminated the former four-time champions and push Uruguay into the Round of 16. South America’s excellent track record in 2014 continues. Uruguay joins Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Colombia in the next round.

Of course, the only talking point after this game will be if Luis Suarez nibbled on Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder or not and what sort of ban he should receive. It should be noted Costa Rica won Group D with seven points.
