Colorado State Coach Jim McElwain Was Really Annoyed By the Denver Mayor Not Knowing His Name

Jim McElwain is 13-14 in two-plus seasons at Colorado State. On Friday, CSU beat Colorado to capture the Centennial Cup in the Rocky Mountain Showdown. After the game, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock presented McElwain with the trophy, but first introduced him as “McIntyre.” McElwain immediately grabbed the microphone and corrected the mayor. At Monday’s press conference, McElwain was still pretty peeved. Via KDVR:

"“I guess that really shows where we are and where I am as a program. … Boy, that makes a guy feel good. Guy giving you the trophy and can’t spit your name out. Shows you how much they care about Colorado State, right?”"

Respect Colorado State or face the wrath of Jim McElwain! Or apologize. That will work too.
