Gheorghe Muresan Played Stat Boy on PTI Today

Tony Reali filled the role of “Stat Boy” on PTI up until last week before moving on to a role with Good Morning America. Tuesday when Tony Kornheiser asked to find out what he and co-host Michael Wilbon “messed up” there was a surprise — a 7-foot-7 surprise in the form of former Washington Bullet Gheorghe Muresan — sitting in the seat formerly occupied by Reali.

The Romanian big man lives around Washington, where PTI shoots, so logistically it makes some sense. Kornheiser called Mursean a “replacement,” which would be amazing but I’d guess this is a one-time deal. If PTI is going to go the guest rout they’re going to be hard-pressed to top the Mursean cameo

Mursean is no stranger to ESPN, appearing in a couple This is SportsCenter spots back in the 1990s.
