Ron Washington resigned on Sept. 5 from his post as manager of the Rangers. At the time the team called it a “personal matter.” On Thursday Washington held a press conference to discuss his resignation. Washington said he wasn’t “true” to his wife:

From the Dallas Morning News:

"“I was not true to my wife after 42 years. I broke her trust,” he said. “I’m here today to own that mistake and to apologize to her and to those who I disappointed and those who have trusted in me and I let them down.”"

Washington didn’t field any follow-up questions.

Washington’s press conference today might only prompt more questions since it sounds like there is more to the story. It seems odd that a manager would resign mid-season due to martial infidelity. The Morning News reported Washington had hired two crisis management firms prior to today’s press conference.

Stay tuned.
