James Rodriguez opened up his scoring account in Spain’s La Liga Saturday with this rocket vs. Deportivo de La Coruña. There’s a reason Madrid paid over $100 million to Monaco for his services this summer. Although this goal pales in comparison to his famous volley this summer at the World Cup against Uruguay, it’s safe to say opponents better close out on the Colombian when he gets the ball on the edge of the penalty area.

Another of Real Madrid’s new summer signings got in on the fun today, too, as Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) also scored his first league goal for the club. The ex-Manchester United striker scored on both of his shots, including this blast from almost the same spot on the field as James’ earlier goal.

Real Madrid might have some holes in the midfield after selling off Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso, but man, when the floodgates open Los Merengues are capable of video game caliber soccer as Saturday’s 8-2 result would indicate.
