Julius Randle, the 7th pick in this year’s NBA draft, suffered a fractured tibia in the 4th quarter of the Lakers 108-90 loss to Houston opening night. Randle drove to the basket and didn’t even really appear to step awkwardly. Before the injury, Randle was just 1-of-3 from the field in 14 minutes. The Lakers lost by 18. Kobe got into a shouting match with Dwight Howard. The game could not have gone any worse for Los Angeles. Here’s hoping that Randle has a full recovery.

[UPDATE: According to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times, Randle had successful surgery today and is out for the season.]
