Jason Garrett went around the field giving handshakes and hugs after the Cowboys defeated the Giants, 31-28. Just as NBC was cutting to commercial, cameras captured Garrett going in for a hug with Josina Anderson. Anderson, an ESPN reporter, was at the center of the Michael Sam/Rams showering story that angered Jeff Fisher so much and led him to accusing ESPN of manufacturing a story.

Is this normal? Do reporters generally give coaches hugs? Everyone has biases, people they like, and friendships in the business, and when away from a camera catching them, I’m sure there are plenty of friendly interactions between reporters and those that give them access. Most of them are not right after a close, big win for one of the most popular teams in America.
