David De Gea Put On a Masterclass in Goal vs. Liverpool

David De Gea, Manchester United’s increasingly all-world goalie, put on a display that will be long-remembered in today’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool. The Spaniard made eight saves, including two point-blank denials of Mario Balotelli in the second half to preserve his clean sheet. Granted, not many soccer teams go into a match setting out to allow that many shots on target, but in this particular case De Gea’s unreal form allows Manchester United a little leeway to work out its defensive issues.
United are now up to third in the table and De Gea is big part of the reason why they’ve won six straight games. Of course, a performance like today will only intensify the speculation that Real Madrid wants to lodge a huge transfer bid to pry De Gea away from United.
