Soccer may or may not be your cup of tea, but, if competitive sport is … you may want to dedicate the next two of your life to Ghana’s “Black Stars” vs. the Ivory Coast’s “Elephants”, and tune into the beIN Sports network.

Why?

Despite being two World Cup participating nations, and this being the championship match of Africa’s biggest soccer tournament — the pitch is LOADED with brand-name international superstars, including:

Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast (Manchester City)

– Wilfried Bony, Ivory Coast (Manchester City)

Gervinho, Ivory Coast (AS Roma)

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana(Al Ain)

– Christian Atsu, Ghana (Everton)

– Andre Ayew, Ghana (Marseille)

Despite being nearly two full decades ago, Ghana has made it public that they are out to finally avenge their 1992 defeat to the Ivory Coast in the 1992 ACON Final — in which Ghana lost to the Elephants 11-10 in penalty kicks.

"“The win in 1992 is a psychological advantage as Ivory Coast beat Ghana on penalties”, said Renard, who was Ghana’s assistant coach at the 2008 Nations Cup."

As for the Ivory Coast, the epic finish in 1992 was the country’s most-recent title. With the country’s immortal hero, Didier Drogba, the team reached the ACON final in 2006 and 2012 — losing both times in similar, dramatic penalty shoot-outs.

Something’s gotta give, and if you don’t believe that this tournament means the world to these players and the citizens of Africa, check out what happened between Ghana and Equatorial Guinea earlier this week…
