Mitch McGary has averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds over the last two games. Those two games are basically McGary’s NBA career. Before Sunday’s game against the Clippers, the rookie from Michigan had appeared in just two games for a total of eight minutes. Now he’s had two straight double-doubles. McGary was forced into action on Sunday when Steven Adams broke his hand while Kendrick Perkins was sitting out a 1-game suspension.

McGary has missed most of the season with injuries. Now healthy, he appears to have given the Thunder another capable basketball player. With Adams out at least three more weeks, McGary will get plenty more opportunities. To put his small sample size production into perspective, Adams has four double-doubles this season and Kendrick Perkins has one game with 10 rebounds this season and one game with 10+ points. A healthy Mitch McGary could actually be the exact player the Thunder hoped they were drafting with the 21st pick in the 2014 Draft.

When Adams returns, this could mean the end of Kendrick Perkins. Can you imagine!? Maybe Serge Ibaka will even learn his name.
