The NBA is getting into the television comedy pilot business. It was announced today that Pitch Perfect's Skylar Astin has been cast in an upcoming pilot about a translator and an NBA rookie who does not speak English. Via Variety:

"The “Pitch Perfect” star will play Jason, a sweet, yet wimpy teaching assistant living in his parents’ basement who’s tapped by an NBA manager to become a translator for a talented but lazy recruit from Botswana. Jason soon realizes he got a lot more than he signed up for when he’s thrown into the company of pro basketball giants."

As someone who took a selfie with Skylar Astin mere days ago, I can confirm that he will be dwarfed by professional basketball players. According to Deadline, the project is being done in cooperation with the NBA and the Golden State Warriors. so attending the Stephen Curry #brand party on Friday probably counted as research.

If Ludacris does the theme song, I will have no choice but to assume this is being made specifically for me. I’d also like to suggest the title “Pitch Perfect Strangers.”
