Larry Sanders, the enigmatic forward of the Milwaukee Bucks who had skyscraping highs and rock-bottom lows in five years with the franchise, has been bought out and is now a free agent.

Sanders only turned 26 in November.

The 6-foot-11 Sanders was the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft – a few spots ahead of Eric Bledsoe and Avery Bradley – and did nothing for two years before blowing up in 2012-2013 (9.8 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 2.8 bpg in just 27 minutes a night). But then he just got … weird. Marijuana’s not weird, but you won’t see many athletes extolling the virtues of it in a public forum. He was at the center of an ugly agent fight for his services. This season, his commitment to basketball was questioned.

Sounds like Sanders is venturing into what could be an ugly place: What will he do now? Presumably, he’s got millions in the bank, and he’s 26, and doesn’t appear to know what he wants to do with his life. Sanders had two more years at $11 million per year left on his deal.
