Arizona Defeats Rice on Walk-Off Steal of Home Plate

A walk-off homer is pretty cool, but a walk-off steal is friggin’ epic. That’s exactly what Kevin Newman did to Rice yesterday, as he broke for home just before Owls pitcher Matt Ditman could deliver the pitch. It appears that Ditman got the ball home in time, however, the catcher juggled the ball and Newman slid safely under the tag.
With the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 9th inning, this heroic play gave the Wildcats the victory: 7-6.
