Larry Brown "Honestly" Believes Kentucky Could Make the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs

Larry Brown is a basketball lifer and as the cliche goes, has probably forgotten more about basketball in the last 20 minutes than most people will ever know in their entire lifetime. Count the SMU coach among those enamored by the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats, making this bold proclamation during an NCAA tournament press conference on Wednesday:

If you’ll recall, at the start of the NBA/NCAA season there was plenty of talk about whether or not Kentucky (34-0) could beat the 76ers, who opened the year 0-17 and are now 15-52 (one game better than the last place Knicks). Now, according to Brown, Kentucky is good enough to make the playoffs in the East. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Heat own the No. 8 spot in the Eastern Conference with a 30-36 record — the same record as the No. 9 Celtics. Call me crazy but expecting a college team to win 30+ game in the NBA might be a tall order, despite the large number of potential first round picks on the Wildcats.

Unfortunately, there is no way to ever know how well this current Kentucky team would fare in the NBA. Though, that won’t stop sports talk radio callers and the Internet from forming definite opinions.
