Eduardo Herrera earned his first cap for the Mexico National Team tonight vs. Paraguay in a friendly at Arrowhead Stadium. He wasted little time to tally his first international goal, leaping in the air to knock in a ball from Juan Carlos Medina with the tip of his foot barely three minutes into the match.

Keeping the ball down in that situation is a lot tougher than it looks, especially when you’re in mid air. The 26-year-old Herrera made it look fairly easy.

The United States and Mexico renew their rivalry on April 15 in San Antonio. Since it doesn’t fall on a FIFA sanctioned date, figure that both teams will draw heavily on players based in North America. Herrera, who plays for Pumas, might find his way onto the field that night at the Alamodome, or beyond. Mexico faces a busy summer with a June trip to the Copa America in Chile followed by the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July.
