Philadelphia Eagles Attempting 3-Way Trade with Browns to Get Marcus Mariota?

It’s Draft Day, 2015, so here come the rumors!

Two days ago Chris Mortensen tweeted that Sam Bradford was acquired by the Eagles to “be their QB. No trade pawn” but today, Peter King says, “Not so fast, my friend!”

"To get the second pick in the draft, the Eagles would have to do one of two things: ship Bradford to Tennessee as part of the deal, or ship Bradford to Cleveland to get a first-round pick, which Kelly would then flip to Tennessee as part of a deal for Mariota. It would take two first-round picks plus something significant, most likely, to get the Oregon passer. Would the Eagles be willing to include their 2016 first-round pick? Or more?"

Rumors! A few days ago, King thought the Chargers deal was dead. None of the national reporters have touched that, nor have they waded into the rumored Browns/Titans deal. Hey, where the hell are the Jets in all of these talks?

And now Chip Kelly is gonna trade Bradford and a few picks to move up and get Mariota? And why would Cleveland want Bradford when it can just package picks together to get Mariota themselves? It strikes me as absurd that any team would help Kelly get the QB he covets. Especially a QB whom Kelly reportedly told former Cleveland GM Joe Banner when he interviewed for the head job in 2013: “Marcus Mariota will win multiple Super Bowls.”

The most interesting thing about this report is actually some ancillary news that didn’t mention Mariota: That Chip Kelly was supposedly shopping linebacker Mychal Kendricks (very good player, but a free agent at season’s end, and they just landed Kiko Alonso), defensive back Brandon Boykin and defensive lineman Fletcher Cox. Philly’s defense was shredded last season, but the Eagles did everything possible to improve it in free agency … and now they’re just going to press the reset button?

Not sure I’m buying that.

Chip Kelly is a brilliant mad scientist … but he’s not about to blow up his team to get Marcus Mariota, is he?
