Rasheed Sulaimon, who was kicked off the Duke basketball team last season, is transferring to Maryland. He is scheduled to graduate in August and would be eligible to play immediately under the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule.

Sulaimon’s dismissal from the Duke program–the first in 35 years for Coach Mike Krzyzewski–was rumored to be a result of sexual assault allegations from two women.

Mark Turgeon told ESPN:

"“We did our due diligence. We were extremely thorough and talked to a lot of people and vetted the entire situation. I’ve known Rasheed and his family since he was 13, and I believe in him. There’s a trust factor, and we’ve had a strong relationship.”"

In light of the due diligence done by other teams such as the Seattle Seahawks (Frank Clark) in adding a talented player, why wouldn’t we believe Turgeon? I’m sure he spoke to everyone involved, from the Duke students who did not want to bring charges, to the secretary that quit the Duke program when nothing was initially done.
