Chris Paul Jumping on Dwight Howard Was the Funniest Intentional Foul in NBA History

Dwight Howard only shot eight free throws during the Rockets’ Game 7 win over the Clippers on Sunday. It was one of three games this series that Howard did not have double-digit free throw attempts and the only such game that Houston won. As the Clippers tried to rally late in the 4th, Howard sat until the 2-minute mark when the Clippers couldn’t intentionally foul him away from the ball.

So Chris Paul got creative, jumping on Howard’s back during a DeAndre Jordan free throw attempt with 1:26 remaining. Honestly, it’s one of the funniest fouls in basketball history. The way Paul is both trying to sell a foul and fight the instinct to act like he’s the victim and flop is amazing. It also gave Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson mixed feelings about intentional fouls for a brief moment. How can you change a rule that brings people as much joy as watching Chris Paul jump on Dwight Howard’s back does?
