Darren Rovell Offered an On-Air Apology for "A Serious Error in Judgement"

After the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight, ESPN’s Darren Rovell attempted to convey the wide array of wealthy people in attendance. In a television appearance and in a blog post, the sports business reporter included Bobby Freedman in this scene, referring to him as a “loan shark.”

The blog post, posted five days ago, now includes this line at the bottom:

A May 3 post on ESPN.com and segment on SportsCenter emncorrectly characteremzed the occupatemon of Bobby Freedman. The characteremzatemon has been removed.

The post appears to have been corrected days ago, so it’s interesting that the on-air apology didn’t come until this morning.

No word yet on how this will affect Rovell’s brand going forward.
