These Are the 40 Best Country Music Songs for Your Summer Playlist

For whatever reason, country music sounds way better in the summer. I’ll listen to it on and off during the other months of the year, but as soon as it warms up it’s time for cheesy songs about kicking it by the lake, drinking and/or trying to find love. Non-stop until football season. As my gift to you, here’s a playlist of upbeat summer country jams (limited to two songs per artist so this doesn’t just become a collection of Toby Keith and Luke Bryan’s greatest hits):

1. Zac Brown Band – No Hurry

2. Tim McGraw – Something Like That

3. Toby Keith – Whiskey Girl

4. Alabama – Dixieland Delight

5. Blake Shelton – Honey Bee

6. Garth Brooks – Friends in Low Places

7. Kenny Chesney – Summertime

8. Brad Paisley – Mud on the Tires

9. David Lee Murphy – Dust on the Bottle

10. Alan Jackson – Chattahoochee

11. Luke Bryan – I Don’t Want this Night to End

12. Chris Young – Aw Naw

13. Kenny Rogers – The Gambler

14. Billy Currington – Hey Girl

15. Darius Rucker – This

16. Old Crow Medicine Show – Wagon Wheel

17. Dierks Bentley – What Was I Thinkin’

18. Montgomery Gentry – One in Every Crowd

19. Travis Tritt – It’s a Great Day to Be Alive

20. Craig Morgan – Redneck Yacht Club

21. Rodney Atkins – Take a Back Road

22. Jason Aldean f/ Ludacris – Dirt Road Anthem

23. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band – Fishin’ in the Dark

24. John Michael Montgomery – Sold

25. Eric Church – Drink in My Hand

26. Chris Young – I Can Take it from There

27. Luke Bryan – That’s My Kind of Night

28. Josh Turner – Why Don’t We Just Dance

29. Jake Owen – Barefoot Blue Jean Night

30. Zac Brown Band – Toes

31. Toby Keith – Beers Ago

32. Tim McGraw – Where the Green Grass Grows

33. Kenny Chesney – Young

34. John Denver – Take Me Home Country Roads

35. George Strait – Here for a Good Time

36. Brad Paisley – Old Alabama

37. Jason Aldean – My Kinda Party

38. Florida Georgia Line – Cruise

39. Garth Brooks – Callin’ Baton Rouge

40. Dierks Bentley – Free and Easy

[Lisk Editor’s Notes: I’ll note for the record that a) I’m shocked that Chicken Fried was not an easy choice for the Zac Brown Band for summer drinking song, and b) these are some my go-t0’s, fully acknowledging that Texas country may not be as mainstream as that Nashville stuff. A song about drinking Sangria wine, anyone?

And Willie needs to be represented with a drinking song. . .
