Kevin Kisner lost the Greenbrier Classic in a four-man sudden death playoff against Danny Lee, who went on to win, David Hearn, and Robert Streb. This is the third playoff of the 2014-2015 season that Kisner has played in and lost. He is the only active PGA Tour pro to have lost in three playoffs in a single season.

According to Golf News Net, four other active players have played in three playoffs in a season, and all of them won at least once.

"Steve Elkington, 1992 Defeated Brad Faxon, 1992 Infiniti Tournament of Champions Lost to Dan Forsman, 1992 Buick Open Lost to Nick Price, 1992 H-E-B Texas Open Sergio Garcia, 2008 Defeated Paul Goydos, 2008 Players Championship Lost to Vijay Singh, 2008 Barclays Lost to Camilo Villegas, 2008 Tour Championship Bill Haas, 2011 Lost to Jhonattan Vegas, 2011 Bob Hope Classic Lost to Scott Stallings, 2011 Greenbrier Classic Defeated Hunter Mahan, 2011 Tour Championship Webb Simpson, 2011 Lost to Bubba Watson, 2011 Zurich Classic of New Orleans Defeated Chez Reavie, 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship Lost to Ben Crane, 2011 McGladrey Classic Kevin Kisner, 2015 Lost to Jim Furyk, 2015 RBC Heritage Lost to Rickie Fowler, 2015 Players Championship Lost to Danny Lee, 2015 The Greenbrier Classic"

That makes for a pretty brutal season for a guy with no PGA Tour wins. Kisner now has three second place finishes and six top 10’s this season.

Meanwhile, last week Bubba Watson won the Travelers Championship in a playoff against Paul Casey, collecting the fifth playoff win of his career and is now 5-1 in playoffs. Tiger Woods is 11-1 in playoffs, and both Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer have 14 playoff wins.

"“It’s tough to win out here, man. I’ve had a heckuva year,” Kisner said after his third P-2 finish on Sunday. “If I keep playing like this, I’ll get plenty of wins.”"

How did Kisner handle the first two playoff losses? By drinking.

The only person who likely feels Kisner’s pain is Greg Norman, who lost seven of his first eight playoffs before finishing 4-8, and four of those losses were at major tournaments.
