Baseball revamped its Home Run Derby format this year, including timed rounds and made it a lot clearer with a 1-on-1 elimination formation. Everyone loves brackets, right, and MLB released them Wednesday evening — including seeds for the eight participants, including two rookies from the Cubs:

No. 1. Albert Pujols vs. No. 8 Kris Bryant

No. 4 Joc Pederson vs. No. 5 Manny Machado

No. 2 Todd Frazier vs. No. 7 Prince Fielder

No. 3 Josh Donaldson vs. No. 6 Anthony Rizzo

Let’s see how it plays out in practice. Maybe people will even hold office pools — I really love Fielder upsetting hometown favorite Frazier in the first round.

Baseball should have gone all-in and named each bracket, maybe the Bonds or McGwire Region or something. Oops I said that out loud. The Derby is Monday night on ESPN and hosted by Internet-favorite Chris Berman.
