Mike Aviles isn’t exactly the most well-known player in baseball in terms of trade discussions this month. Even so, teams are still interested in the Cleveland veteran most-likely due to his capability to play in the infield an corner outfield spots. He’s the sort of bench player that would bode well for a contender in the National League.

Per Ken Rosenthal the team isn’t going to listen to offers on him. Aviles’ four-year-old daughter, Adriana, is undergoing treatment for leukemia at the Cleveland Clinc which has caused him to miss time during the season.

The Indians have rallied around Aviles. In late May many players and team executives including owner Paul Dolan shaved their heads in support of Adriana.

Sports organizations are often criticized for being petty, but this is a classy move by the Cleveland front office.
