Reg. Season Records: 10-2, 7-5, 7-5, 4-8

SRS Rankings: 22, 22, 26, 73

Why to Like Them: In Anu Solomon, Rodriguez has his first returning starter at QB since Pat White in 2007 at West Virginia. That alone gets the pulse racing. The Wildcats bring back RB Nick Wilson, who ran for 1, 375 yards as a freshman last year. Five of the top six receivers come back. Arizona should also have a veteran offensive line. TBL Top 50 LB Scooby Wright comes back for his junior year, after finishing 1st nationally in tackles, 1st in TFL and 3rd in sacks last year.

Why Not To Like Them: Defense could be a moderate concern. Arizona remains light on the line (a 247-pound nose tackle in a 3-man front). They also lose a number of seniors from the secondary.

Schedule: Positives? Arizona ducks Oregon (though that hasn’t been a problem for them). They play no one outside the conference. Negatives? They have five Pac 12 road games. Noteworthy: the Wildcats play 12 weeks in a row before a bye week on Nov. 28. They travel to USC and Arizona State late in the season.

Throwing Darts: If Arizona can sweep the non-conference schedule, and beat the four worst Pac 12 teams, that gets them to seven wins. The season comes down to how they fare from UCLA, at Stanford, at USC, Utah, at Arizona State. We’ll say 9-10 wins and firmly in the Pac 12 South muddle.
