Fantasy Football 2015: Auction Draft Prices

Here are my auction draft prices for 2015, incorporating my player rankings and projections at Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Tight End. One could also use it as a Top 150 list in a snake draft.

A couple of notes on this. I used the methodology I laid out several years ago. For these prices, I used 12 team league, 16 players per team, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, and a Kicker and Defense. I also, based on popular demand, used a $200 salary cap for each team. (You can convert this if necessary, a $100 league would roughly convert to the listed price, minus $1, then divided by 2–and then add the $1 back in).

I also talked about some general advice from doing auction drafts, but here are some 2015 specific ones based on things like seeing the average draft position results.

The top wide receivers look like they are going for value relative to the snake drafts. The top tier has several star wideouts in their prime, while the running back position is flatter than normal up top, and Bell is arguably the only one of traditional prime RB age (and he’s suspended two games). Nevertheless, people are still following the pattern of RB heavy the first half of draft. If you can come out of an auction with two top WR for cheaper than where I have listed, you are ahead of the game. I would want at least one. But throw them out early and don’t wait until the tier has been shrunk.

Quarterbacks, values late, overdraft early. This is not new. But my prices for this year put the top 6 or so going earlier than where I would pay for them. The value is the other starters, from QB7 to about QB15. Your best bet is to probably try to get a couple of these guys. Then again, every draft is different, so be prepared to jump on value wherever it presents itself, and go in with some scenarios including one where you start with Rodgers or Luck.

Set Goals: My goal is to come out with about 15% more value than my prices paid. So with a $200 cap, my goal is to have players I had valued at about $230 total. You can do this by getting stars for cheaper than you hoped. You can also do it by nominating the $4 and $5 guys for a $1 and getting some rotation starters on the cheap.

Here is the list, and you can also download it, thanks to Michael Shamburger.

[update: WR Davante Adams was omitted from the list below, his price would be $9 in a $200 auction]
