Right on schedule: the New York Mets’ season is imploding in September. It’s almost an annual tradition at this point.

In addition to their 7 game division lead shrinking to 4 after losing to the Miami Marlins today: the team’s star pitcher, Matt Harvey, has been in the news this past week because his agent, Scott Boras, is threatening to have Matt sit out the playoffs due to the fact that he’s on the verge of surpassing his season-long innings limit (~180 IP).

Well, with rumors swirling and tension boiling over within the locker room and fan base — Matt Harvey addressed the rumors publicly on Sunday afternoon via The Players Tribune:

"You’ve heard about the 180-185 innings cap. That seems to be the number that will allow me to pitch into the postseason. Regardless of those numbers, I hope everyone knows: I have always wanted to play. I have always wanted to pitch every single chance I get. Especially in the playoffs."
