Jen Welter became the first female coach in NFL history this summer. Her time as a Cardinals intern linebackers coach must be over. Welter spent opening weekend of the NFL season in Las Vegas to be honored by Mayweather Promotions’ Titans of the Trade breakfast. In an interview with an Arizona television station, Welter explained her decision to accept Mayweather’s invitation. (Transcription via FOX Sports)

“You can only be used if you allow yourself to be used, and I am not allowing Floyd Mayweather to use me,” Welter said. “I think it’s a beautiful thing that this dicussion surrounding this fight is highlighting the need to look at domestic violence in our country. And it’s only doing that because people are mad I’m going to the fight.”

Actually, the DV talk seemed a bit quiet leading up to this lower-profile Mayweather fight. It seemed that the media used up most of their outrage leading up to the Mayweather – Pacquiao fight. You know, when people were actually paying attention.
