A point away at Goodison was not enough. Brendan Rodgers is out as Liverpool manager. Thierry Henry, now a full-time television pundit, was shocked.

Rodgers’ departure was not unexpected. Rumors have swirled. He entered the season under pressure. Liverpool have won just one of their last nine matches in all competitions. Entering the international break was the time to make the change.

Liverpool built a vibrant, attacking team under Rodgers with Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling. That team scored 101 goals and finished in 2nd place in 2014. Since, the Reds sold Suarez and Sterling. Replacement signings have been underwhelming.

While it’s not clear Rodgers was, entirely, at fault for the present malaise. He appeared to have no ideas for extricating Liverpool from it.
