Stephon Marbury announced the resurrection of his shoe line in an Instagram post last week. The relatively inexpensive Starbury sneakers launched in 2006 and retailed for as low as $9.98. Marbury, now playing in China, took to Twitter to point out that his company operates differently than Nike, saving his harshest words for Michael Jordan.

Marbury’s desire to make affordable kicks is laudable, but directly blaming Jordan for deaths seems a bit over the line.

Jordan still makes over $100 million per year through partnerships with Nike and others.

Marbury has offered no further details on the Starbury relaunch. With this comment, of course, he’s succeeded in drumming up some publicity for it. Maybe that was the goal.
