Matt Cassel Replacing Brandon Weeden as Dallas Cowboys QB

Matt Cassel will be the new Dallas Cowboys QB after the team’s bye week, ESPN reports. Brandon Weeden has a history of playing poorly at QB, so this should surprise nobody. Strangely, he wasn’t that bad in 3+ games with Dallas, but they went 0-3 with him as the starter, and he had two interceptions (and two touchdowns), so he’s gone to the bench.

I’m not sure Cassel gives the Cowboys a better chance at winning, I mean, have you looked at his recent history? He threw 71 passes in Minnesota last year, and four of them were intercepted. Cassel is most famous for not starting one game at USC while in college (and throwing just 14 passes!), but getting a chance for one season when Tom Brady went down in New England. Cassel performed well in that one year, 2008, completing 63 percent of his passes and throwing 21 TDs.

Probably meant something this coach was Bill Belichick, though.

Dallas is resigned to the fact that the season is most likely lost. The team can’t win without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, and they miscalculated letting DeMarco Murray walk. Injuries have mounted, the defense hasn’t played well, and eventually, the Eagles and Giants will pull away in the division.
