Jose Bautista Will Flip His Bat, But Not a Ball

Too much has been made about Jose Bautista’s dramatic bat flip — and bat flips in general for that matter. Some people love them. Some people hate them. End of story. And yet the debate over jubilant tossing of items rages on. Once we solve that issue, we’ll have to move onto the fake flipping of souvenir baseballs into the crowd.
Bautista himself pulled a gotcha moment during last night’s American League Championship Series game against the Royals in Kansas City after catching a fly ball down the right field line. It either broke the heart of an innocent young fan or lame adult clamoring for a free baseball.
The Blue Jays right fielder was already drawing the opposing crowd’s loudest boos before this little move. Doubt he gained any friends in the process.
