Frank Thomas to Mets: Don't Feel Bad, All You Did Was Give Away the World Series

The New York Mets’ improbable season came to a disappointing end last night as the Kansas City Royals authored yet another come-from-behind victory. Although Terry Collins’ team fell short of their ultimate goal, reasonable Mets fans will agree it’s been a magical year full of exceeded expectations.

Frank Thomas attempted to make a similar point during Fox’s postgame coverage. It didn’t go so well.

“The Mets have nothing to hold their heads down for,” Thomas said. “Except they didn’t play that well and they gave away this World Series.”

Now, Thomas was clearly trying to say something positive about the Mets and not make a pointed criticism. More of a Subtle Hurt than an Big Hurt if you will.

Also, to anyone saying the Mets “gave away” the Series: the Royals might have had just a little to do with that.
