It is the end of an era. Notre Dame has finally bought out Charlie Weis. The Irish signed Weis to a 10-year contract extension in 2005, after starting 5-2. When he was fired after the 2009 season, the university still owed him nearly $19 million. Per ESPN the last payment was due this month.

"Notre Dame is scheduled for “additional annual payments” through December 2015, so two more payments of what Weis received in the previous four years means his buyout money from the school would total $18,966,867."

Don’t get too upset for Charlie, though. He still receives monthly payments on his $5.625 million Kansas buyout through December 2016. Supervising a students’ extra-curricular activity is a good job if you can get it.
