Ronda Rousey Will Attend Marine Corps Ball [UPDATE]

UPDATE: Ronda Rousey is going to the Marine Corps Ball as promised. Good for her. In TMZ video, Rousey was as cheerful as one can be on no sleep on her way to the airport at 4am after being ambushed by paparazzi a month after one of the most disappointing moments of her life. [TMZ]

Ronda Rousey agreed to attend the annual Marine Corps Ball with a “cute” Marine way back in September. That was a long time ago. The Marine, Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert, worried that Rousey might back out when news broke about her relationship with Travis Browne back in October, but she told TMZ she would still go. Now that Rousey has had her head kicked by Holly Holm, it’s not looking so good. Via NJ 101.5:

"“Jarrod said he hasn’t heard anything yet” Jarrod’s mother Caroline told New Jersey 101.5 about plans with Rousey for the Commandant’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball, which will be held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Md. “He said, ‘All I know is I’m going in the hopes she’ll be there,’” said Caroline."

You might think it’s a bad look for Rousey to bail now – especially considering she’s apparently well enough to be penciled into a headlining slot at UFC 200 – but you have to consider where she might be both physically and mentally. Again, here is an excerpt from the ESPN piece on Rousey. This is the state she was in a couple weeks ago.

She does not sound like a great date at this point in time. Still, a phone call would be nice.
