Jose Mourinho Fired by Chelsea After Terrible Start

Chelsea has fired manager Jose Mourinho less than a year after he led them to a Premier League title. The mercurial Mourinho has struggled both on and off the pitch this year. The Blues have lost nine of 16 matches and are dangerously close to the relegation line. This after running away with the title last season.

It was his third crown with Chelsea, the previous two coming in his first stint as manager from 2004-2008. And it led to Mourinho signing a four-year contract in August.

A 4-9-3 start is not what team brass expected at the time. It’s also not the type of bottom line worth the headaches Mourinho creates with his sharp tongue and unpredictable actions.

That said, there will be a host of teams lining up to give him another opportunity.

Such is life for the special ones.
