UConn’s Bobby Puyol bounced a 52-yard field goal off the crossbar and through to cut Marshall’s lead to 13-10 near the end of the fourth quarter. The bizarre play was dramatic enough for a kids’ Disney football movie. The sporting gods’ decision to waste it in an early-afternoon St. Petersburg Bowl is puzzling.

If a Super Bowl were to be decided on a bounce like this, workplaces would shut down for two weeks and Twitter would go up like the Death Star. And we’d all be totally fine with that.
