Get them out. Get them all out of your system — the “That escalated quickly,” the “If you’re not first, you’re last,” the “He’s so hot right now.”

Will Ferrell bought a soccer team.

You know you want to do it. You know you want to yell, “We’re going streaking!” right now. So just get it out, so we can all move on.

Although it sounds like a bit of a gag — remember that bit about Ferrell playing in baseball spring training games last year? — Ferrell’s ownership stake in the expansion franchise LAFC is authentic, according to MLS.com.

"“This is not a joke,” Ferrell said."

The ownership group is a star-studded cast of sports figures and celebrities. It includes Mia Hamm, Nomar Garciaparra, Magic Johnson and Tony Robbins.

During a 25-minute press conference that also included a logo unveiling, Ferrell joked he grew up playing soccer on the “mean streets of Irvine, California.”

"“It’s thrilling to see a turnout like this,” said Ferrell. “The fact that we have people from Palmdale is impressive. If we’re already reaching out to Palmdale, you know we’re in good shape.”"

LAFC begins play in 2018.
