Thomas Davis Has Surgery on Broken Arm, May Play in Super Bowl

Thomas Davis really wants to play in Super Bowl 50. The Carolina Panthers linebacker suffered a broken right arm against the Arizona Cardinals during the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, but he’s determined not to let that end his season.

Davis underwent surgery on his arm on Monday and want to be back in time for Carolina’s showdown with the Denver Broncos on February 7 in Santa Clara. He suffered the injury during the second quarter of the NFC title game and did not return.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera claims Davis should be able to play in the Super Bowl if there are no complications from the surgery. That would be a huge boost for Carolina, as the 32-year-old is a big-time defensive playmaker. He finished this season with 105 tackles, 5.5 sacks, four interceptions and four forced fumbles.

No matter how things turn out, no one can ever question Davis’ toughness again. Dude suffered an injury that should have ended his season on Sunday, underwent surgery on Monday and could wind up playing in two weeks. While he’s certainly a tough guy, and I’m not a doctor, something tells me playing football two weeks after breaking your arm isn’t the smartest move.
