Vince Young, the former NFL quarterback who starred at the University of Texas, was reportedly arrested for DWI early this morning in Austin. The local Fox affiliate reports that officials have confirmed the arrest. The Austin American Statesman adds details:

"The arresting officer wrote in an arrest affidavit that Young smelled strongly of alcohol. He also wrote that Young’s balance was swaying and unsure and that he showed the same symptoms of intoxication while walking. Young was not cooperative with the officer but remained polite, the affidavit said. Young’s speech was slurred and thick-tongued and he mumbled, the affidavit said. The officer said Young’s clothing were mussed and his eyes were glassy. Young laughed at one point, which the officer found odd, the affidavit said."

Reportedly, Young took 10 seconds to start moving after a green light, was followed by the arresting officer, and drifted across the yellow line on the left of a highway.

The last we saw of Vince Young in the NFL, he failed to make the Packers’ regular season roster in 2013, when he still showed flashes of athleticism, but was not in the building long enough to establish command of the playbook. He hasn’t appeared in a regular season NFL game since 2011, when he was a member of the Eagles.

As Mike Florio summarized today, there has been quite the fall from grace for Young since he was a promising young quarterback with the Titans; here’s hoping he is able to get the help it appears that he needs.
