Pep Guardiola Is Joining Manchester City

Pep Guardiola was heading to England. His destination will be Manchester City. He will succeed Manuel Pellegrini with a three-year contract after the season.

City has not produced success commensurate with their spending yet, particularly in Europe. That should change. If his Bayern team holds on, the 45-year-old Guardiola will have won six league titles in seven years with the German club and Barcelona. He has won the Champions League twice and never been eliminated before the semifinals.

Manchester City had limitless resources and a stupid array of talent. Now, they have the world’s best manager (and Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea do not). This prospect should scare everyone in European soccer.

The only thing that has foiled Pep thus far? Tight pants.
